Advanced Practice Provider Instructor of Clinical Medicine (Division of Pulmonology)
Responsibilities
The APP will work with attending physicians to provide pulmonary and critical care consultation and follow up services in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The APP will also care for pulmonary patients who are admitted to the hospital due to complications of their disorder, complications of their treatment or palliative care.
Common conditions include asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, acute and chronic respiratory failure, pneumonia, pleural effusions, hypoxemia, hypercapnia, and other lung diseases.
- Complete/comprehensive history and physical examination
- Ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies
- Prescribing appropriate treatments in collaboration with the attending physician
- Consultation with specialist physicians and other team members regarding findings/changes in patient condition
- Care coordination with the patient and providers
- Initiation and adjustment of treatment in collaboration with the physician
- Ensuring longitudinal communications with primary and referring providers regarding patient status
Requirements
Minimum Field of Expertise: Possession of current certificate of completion from an Advanced Practice Provider program. Current and valid California State RN and/or Advanced Practice Provider licenses, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Pulmonology experience preferred.
