About the Role

The Inpatient Medical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider delivers comprehensive, high-quality care to hospitalized oncology patients. This role collaborates with attending physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals to manage complex oncologic conditions, treatment-related complications, and supportive care needs. The APP is responsible for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management in accordance with established clinical protocols and evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
  • Manage acute and chronic oncologic conditions including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, treatment-related toxicities, and oncologic emergencies.
  • Assist with hospital rounding, consults, and discharge planning.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians.
  • Participate in care coordination with oncologists, palliative care teams, radiology, pharmacy, and case management.
  • Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Facilitate communication with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and goals of care.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.
  • BLS/ACLS certification.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Bone Marrow Biopsies.
  • Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record.
