Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient Hospital - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Full-time inpatient hospitalist position with rotating day and night shifts. Monthly shift requirement: 12 ten-hour day shifts (8am–6pm) and 5 fourteen-hour night shifts (6pm–8am, low census).
About the role
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) contributes to the clinical, educational, and research missions of the organization by providing care in inpatient, outpatient, telehealth, and triage settings. Responsibilities include health assessments, diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, treatment planning, psychosocial support, health education, and counseling. The APP collaborates with other health professionals to maintain continuity of care and coordinates community services, while also contributing to the development and evaluation of the healthcare delivery system.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality care for patients and families, manage chronic and acute conditions, and promote health maintenance.
- Perform and document history and physical exams, gather data from medical records, review outside records, communicate with referring providers, and develop and implement care plans.
- Monitor and document patient progress, revise care plans as needed, interpret test results, and intervene with specialty referrals or escalation when necessary.
- Act as a consultant and present educational programs to community groups, organizations, or individuals.
- Contribute to the education and research mission through participation in research, quality improvement projects, presentations, professional organizations, and precepting.
- Serve as a role model, encourage professional behaviors, and represent advanced practice on organizational committees.
- Comply with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations, including those from the Colorado Medical Board, Joint Commission, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Maintain current licensure, board certification, BLS, ACLS, or PALS as applicable, and stay updated on regulatory changes.

Requirements
- Graduate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Colorado PA or APRN license with prescriptive authority; DEA registration; national certification (PA or NP).
- Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS or PALS if applicable to the practice area.
- 1 year of recent experience as an APP in adult hospital medicine or critical care preferred.

Schedule
- Rotating shifts: 12 ten-hour day shifts (8am–6pm) and 5 fourteen-hour night shifts (6pm–8am) per month.
- Occasional travel between NJH practice sites as needed.
Pay
Salary range: $110,000 – $150,000.
