About the Role

This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other activities as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation (hospital), Credentialing and Scope of Practice (Medical Group), Consultation and Referral Plan (DOPL), or other similar documentation. The Nurse Practitioner (APRN) delivers optimal patient care through effective clinical practice, education, consultation, and maintaining current knowledge for optimal patient outcomes.

Advanced practice registered nursing includes: maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease; diagnosis, treatment, correction, consultation, and referral for common health problems; prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices, including local anesthesia; schedule IV-V controlled substances; and schedule II-III controlled substances in accordance with a consultation and referral plan.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessment to obtain a complete and accurate record of clinical information and medical symptoms.
  • Orders tests and exams to gather additional information for proper and complete patient care.
  • Diagnoses patient needs based on assessment and determines a plan of care.
  • Interprets patient care tests and exams to guide ongoing care.
  • Provides and oversees treatment, including appropriate prescriptive practice, to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Utilizes advanced specialty knowledge to ensure care is appropriate, effective, timely, and cost-efficient.
  • Performs diagnostic or therapeutic procedures as defined by Scope of Practice.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation of clinical care, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Codes and bills accurately per established protocols.
  • Conducts and coordinates education for patients, families, and clinical staff to support the continuum of care.
  • Trains other staff in areas of clinical expertise and provides teaching to students to ensure safe patient care.
  • Stays current with healthcare trends and participates in continuing medical education.
  • Coordinates and collaborates patient care efforts with other providers, communicating clinical information thoroughly and accurately.
  • May participate in research and evidence-based practice to promote quality patient care, protocol development, and best practice standards.

Requirements

  • Current state license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (credentialing requirement).
  • Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Other certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Applicable certification from a recognized certifying organization (e.g., ANCC or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners).
  • Relevant experience as defined by position leadership.

Skills

  • Ability to see, read, and interpret information, labels, and patient needs.
  • Frequent verbal communication with patients, families, and providers, including in emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity for operating complex medical equipment and documenting patient care.
  • Physical ability to lift, transfer, and ambulate patients, including bending, carrying, and pushing/pulling equipment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate busy clinical environments.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $57.33 - $88.47, dependent upon experience.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
