Advanced Practice Provider - Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care (CTICU) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (ARNP/PA-C)
About the role
The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington is seeking six (6) full-time Cardiothoracic Surgery Intensive Care (CTICU) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant positions to support the rapid expansion and growth of the CTICU unit at the University of Washington Montlake Campus.
Responsibilities
- Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with other established APPs, critical care physicians and cardiothoracic surgeons in addition to the multidisciplinary team.
- Perform bedside ICU procedures including central line and arterial line placements, bronchoscopy, and point of care ultrasound.
- 24/7 dedicated CTICU in-house intensivist support.
- Comprehensive 3-4 month 1:1 precepted onboarding available with an established team of experienced critical care APPs.
- Flexible schedule with rotating day/night/weekend coverage requirements.
- Participate in the education of nursing and resident staff.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Current and valid WA State Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C.
- Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Nationally certified ARNP/PA and eligible for DEA.
- Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
- ACLS Certification.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills.
- Prior critical care or cardiothoracic surgery experience strongly preferred; extremely motivated new graduates with relevant critical care and cardiothoracic surgical training backgrounds may be considered for hire with an extended onboarding period.
