About the role

Provides comprehensive, team-based care to patients admitted to the Rhode Island Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, team-based care to patients admitted to the Rhode Island Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
• Responsible for admission H & Ps, daily progress notes, orders, procedures, and all matters of direct patient care.
• Work under the direct supervision of attending physicians from the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, as well as the Critical Care Fellows and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows from RIH and TMH, while on duty in the MICU and PCCSM consults including critical care triage.
• Work along with interns or residents from the Brown University Internal Medicine Residency Program to coordinate care.
• Ensure good communication with the patient’s primary care team/provider throughout services.
• Work within and be responsible to the Division Director, Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as determined by the Division Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
• Other duties as assigned by the Division Director.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP/PA program.
• RI licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Experience & Skills

• Critical Care experience a plus.
• Experience with EMR (Epic) preferred.

• Work Type: M‑F
• Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Day)
• Daily Hours: 8 hours
• Driving Required: No
