About the Role
Employees in this position augment a supervising physician's data-gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides healthcare services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician.
Responsibilities
- Provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in an outpatient health facility.
- Delivers timely, appropriate care to assigned patients, documented clearly and concisely in health records.
- Available for on-call medical services during scheduled hours to connect with the onsite clinic for virtual care and support of the clinical team.
- Conducts outpatient medical services virtually and/or consults with onsite clinical teams for triage and assessment, including referrals to emergency departments.
- Documents all patient interactions clearly and concisely in health records for recording and reporting.
- Escalates or refers patient care to supervising physicians, specialists, or other practitioners using sound clinical judgment.
- Coordinates with supervising physician and health facility director to strategize, plan, and execute clinically effective and efficient healthcare services.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the job classification.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Physician Assistant’s training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association.
- Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
OR
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in providing healthcare in-person and via telehealth.
- Understanding of health standards for quality outcomes, such as HEDIS/NCQA.
