Advanced Practice Provider

Summary

Aids the physician in patient care and education.

  • Assesses physical and psychosocial status of patients through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
  • Writes prescriptions for medications, blood products, based on lab results, diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and discharge plans, following established protocols.
  • Determines patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
  • Interprets and evaluates study/test findings and communicates relevant patient care information to collaborating physicians.
  • Administers therapeutic measures/specimens as prescribed.
  • Drafts follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and next steps.
  • Drafts or writes patient history, admission, progress, and discharge notes promptly.
  • Supports family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic patient care phases.
  • Participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality patient care.
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation.
  • Documents and reports care accurately and timely using appropriate forms and records.
  • Showcases willingness to learn and adapt to the evolving healthcare environment.
  • Assists staff during crises or emergencies.
  • Maintains public relations and promotes cancer treatment.
  • Manages work priorities and assigns tasks to ensure proper completion.
  • Complies with federal and state laws and regulations regarding patient privacy, rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
  • Adheres to FCS and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Maintains work area and records in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all patient and employee information according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Trains new employees on related job duties.
  • Works at any FCS location as needed to support business needs.
  • May work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient status and write prescriptions based on medical findings.
  • Evaluate and communicate patient care information to collaborating physicians.
  • Manage family dynamics and patient coping mechanisms.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to ensure quality care.
  • Triage patients and document care accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with staff during crises and emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FCS policies.
  • Train new employees on related job duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or master’s degree in nursing/post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
  • Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC).
  • BLS certified.
