About the Role
In collaboration with supervising physicians, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) directly manages the care of complex acutely ill patients via face-to-face, telehealth, or other communication devices. The APP is an expert in patient care who provides quality care, performs patient assessments, histories and physicals (H&Ps), and takes a thorough medical history. The APP can order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, develop medical diagnoses, create appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medical regimens, and educate patients/families regarding diagnoses and plans of care. The APP may perform approved procedures and order medications as indicated in the Delineation of Privileges. The APP works directly with physicians, staff, administration, patients, and families to ensure quality of care across the health system, acting as a clinical team leader who intervenes and manages deteriorating patients. They integrate evidence-based practice and technological advances into their scope of practice and may participate in research initiatives, data collection, quality improvement, discharge planning, and coordination of patient care within their area of practice. The APP also facilitates patient throughput, optimal patient outcomes, optimal length of stay, and improved patient satisfaction.
Qualifications
For Nurse Practitioners (APRNs):
- Master’s Degree
- Valid Florida APRN License
- Nurse Practitioner National Certification
- DEA License
- BLS Certification
- 3 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Compliance with Florida CEU and licensure requirements
- Medical staff credentialing and privileges as needed for practice location
- If inpatient privileges are required and acute care certification is not held, compliance with BHSF Policy 701 is mandatory
For Physician Assistants (PAs):
- Master’s Degree
- Valid Florida PA License
- NCCPA Certification
- DEA License
- BLS Certification
- Compliance with Florida CME and licensure requirements
- Medical staff credentialing and privileges as needed for practice location
- No experience required
Pay
Estimated salary range for this position is $118,907.47 - $158,146.94 / year depending on experience.
