Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) - Gynecologic Oncology & Reproductive Medicine

About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider supports the Gynecologic Oncology team through direct patient care, clinical procedures, education, research participation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the continuum of cancer care.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality patient care in relation to patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development, and other identified needs.
• Affords psychological support to patients and families.
• Performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures under supervision of a physician.
• Contributes to research efforts of Department/Section and applies pertinent research to clinical practice.
• Consults with colleagues and allied personnel outside and within MDACC.
• Facilitates communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinates services related to patient care.
• Assists in development of educational material for use by staff.
• Provides health education to the patient and his/her family (management of side effects, etc.) as well as participates in formal and informal instruction of nursing students, professional nurses and other health professionals.
• Builds and maintains a therapeutic team to provide optimum therapy/care.
• Identifies clinical problems amenable to research methods.
• Initiates or collaborates in research projects.
• Serves as a research person by assisting with the implementation of registered departmental research protocols.
• Applies pertinent research to care of patients and to develop alternate plans of care.
• Attends departmental meetings pertinent to the APP.

Requirements

• Master's Degree Nursing or Doctorate Nursing Practice.
• Licensure/Certification: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of Advanced Practice Provider experience, with at least two years of experience in Gynecology or Oncology Reproductive Health experience.
• Prior experience in a cancer center, academic medical center, or specialty practice is beneficial.

Skills

• Knowledge on treatment of menopausal symptoms.

Pay

Salary Range: Minimum $117,500.00 - Midpoint $146,500.00 - Maximum $176,500.00

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Work Location: Some remote work.
