Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (PA/NP) Pediatrics - Cardiology - CICU Instructor

Provides and coordinates clinical practice for patients admitted to the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Progressive Care Unit service, 24 hours a day, through the collaborative practice agreement and under the supervision of the on-site or on-call attending physician.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evidence-based clinical care to pediatric patients in the CICU/CPCU.
  • Supports IRB-approved clinical research/trials through activities including:
    • Obtaining consent
    • Ordering diagnostic tests
    • Recording laboratory and diagnostic results
    • Administering therapeutic interventions
    • Reporting patient outcomes, including toxicities or adverse events
  • Communicates with families regarding the changing healthcare needs of their child.

Work Location

This is an onsite role located in Aurora, Colorado. The position is 1.0 FTE and includes day, evening, and night rotations, as well as weekends and holidays. A salary incentive is possible for staffing greater than 75% nights or weekends.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Physician Assistant:
    • Graduate of an accredited APAP program
    • BLS and PALS certification
    • Certification from the NCCPA
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner:
    • Graduate of an accredited BSN program
    • APN licensure and a master’s from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
    • BLS and PALS certification
    • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board certificate or comparable certification
    • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification
    • Ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado (must qualify and obtain within one year of beginning position)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a pediatric hospital
  • Experience in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • Some positions may require additional drug testing if access to Children’s Hospital or their systems is needed

Pay

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $115,000 to $135,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
