Advanced Practice Provider (APP)/(PA/NP/APRN)/Medicine/Gastroenterology and Hepatology/Instructor

As an important member of the community practice team, the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will have clinical responsibilities, including outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital consultation. The APP will see a mix of inpatient daytime GI consults at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital (HRH) in coordination with one of the community practice physicians and outpatient clinic visits at the CU Medicine Clinic at the HRH Medical Office Building at least 4 days per week (8 half-days).

The CU GI Community Practice Group is a sub-section of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, providing community-based clinical care at three UCHealth satellite facilities in the Denver metro area: Highlands Ranch Hospital, Lone Tree Specialty Clinic, and Cherry Creek Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation and management of GI disorders within the scope of a general gastroenterology advanced practice provider, including:
  • GERD
  • Dysphagia
  • IBS/functional GI disorders
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding/iron deficiency anemia
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Liver cirrhosis
  • Pancreatitis
  • GI motility disorders

Work Location

Onsite – this role is expected to work primarily in the attached medical office building at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital in Highlands Ranch, CO, as well as the inpatient side of the hospital on occasion.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Instructor – Nurse Practitioner
  • DNP preferred/MSN required from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure by a national professional organization
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado
  • Admission to the Advanced Practice Registry of the Colorado Board of Nursing
  • Prescriptive authority required
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in practice as an NP
• Instructor – Physician Assistant
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Colorado
  • Prescriptive authority required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in practice as a PA

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of experience working in Gastroenterology
• Three (3) or more years of inpatient experience
• Three (3) or more years of outpatient experience

• Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical conditions, and interpreting findings
• Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, their family members, medical staff, and the public
• Ability to maintain quality control standards
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures

Pay

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $110,000–$130,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Total compensation includes generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions.
