Summary
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide surgical continuity of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, acting as an educator and liaison.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as an integral member of the surgical service, performing history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting lab tests, prescribing medications, developing and monitoring patient treatment plans, making referrals, and prescribing treatment modalities.
- Performs minor procedures such as peripheral IV access, central venous access, PICC line placement, wound management, tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy changes, arterial catheter placement, drain/suture/removal, and assisting with surgery.
- Collaborates with unit teachers and clinical nurse specialists to educate nurses and precept medical students.
- Treats patients with respect and dignity.
- Participates in research and educational activities.
- Obtains necessary certifications and training.
- Prepares health education materials.
- Attends and participates in multidisciplinary meetings.
Educational Requirements
- Master’s Degree
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Rhode Island licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Current DEA licensure.
- ACLS certification.
Experience and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
- None.
Pay Range
$127,504.00-$161,782.40
