Provides healthcare services, under the supervision of a physician.
- Conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels patients.
- May prescribe medicine.
Maintains an effective professional relationship with patients, families, co-workers, medical staff, and administration and works to create a culture of service excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing
- National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia
- Basic Life Support Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support (ALS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at the discretion of the department
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Acute care, surgical, critical care, or trauma experience
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray and POC lab tests.
- Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
- Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
- Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
- Obtains, compiles and records patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination utilizing the Meditech EMR.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.
- Prescribes therapy or medication – electronically when available.
- Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with the medical assistant(s) as needed during the care and treatment of patients.
- Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.
- Communicates with staff, medical staff and administration in support of operations.

- Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment.

- Demonstrates competency as appropriate in patient care assessment for each patient population area served: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
