Advanced Practice Professional (Nurse Practitioner) Sleep Disorders Clinic
This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. Both qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) applicants will be considered.
Job Summary
This position is for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for the Adult Sleep Disorders Clinics at Michigan Medicine. This clinician may initially obtain mentored experience in Sleep Medicine at the Sleep Clinic, and then work in collaboration with physicians in the Sleep Clinic.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to patients in the Sleep Disorders Clinic.
- Support physicians in clinic, handle higher-level medical issues, and contribute to the overall continuity of patients' care.
- Provide clinical leadership in practice, staff development, and research.
- Participate in student, physician, and staff education.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Work with clinical staff for scheduling and triage issues.
- Support clinic nurses in the provision of patient care as needed.
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult Gero-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an APP at an AASM Accredited Sleep Disorders Center or under the supervision of a board-certified sleep medicine Physician.
Physician Assistant (PA)
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License.
- Current DEA registration.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an APP at an AASM Accredited Sleep Disorders Center or under the supervision of a board-certified sleep medicine Physician.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.
Desired Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of ambulatory care NP or PA experience.
- Experience with adult patients in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, and/or Family Medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to direct clinic staff and patient care, prioritize, problem solve, and delegate effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative practice.
- Recent experience in care coordination/case management.
- Demonstrated organizational/time management skills.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.

Pay
Salary range: $130,630 - $200,734
Schedule
- Hours/Week: 40
- Shift/Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, specific shifts/hours to be determined upon hire.
- Location: Sleep Clinic, Brighton Center for Special Care (BCSC), possibly with some time at other sites such as Med Inn.
