Advanced Practice - Plastic Surgery

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating closely with physicians and other care providers to manage a distinct patient population in the inpatient acute care setting. This role focuses on plastic surgery, reconstruction, and adult wound care in the hospital. The APP provides specialized care, supports high-quality, evidence-based medical services, and adheres to established clinical pathways and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examinations, assessments, and plans of care.
• Provides healthcare services for primary, acute, and complex care of patients, managing overall care and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
• Orders, performs, interprets, and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant diagnostic information, and procedures.
• Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribes therapeutic interventions, including pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and surgical approaches, to achieve expected outcomes.
• Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
• Initiates appropriate referrals and consultations, providing specialty-specific services within scope of practice.
• Facilitates patient transitions between and within healthcare settings, including admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Demonstrates advanced medical knowledge, clinical and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, and professional communication skills.
• Ensures timely and compliant documentation in the electronic health record.
• Participates in professional development, competency validation, and continuous learning to maintain high standards of care.
• Educates patients, families, students, and healthcare team members on clinical topics and evidence-based practices.
• Actively engages in practice-based scholarly inquiry to improve patient care and outcomes.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, fostering professional relationships.
• Participates in medical center committees, professional organizations, and activities influencing advanced practice.

Requirements

• Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license required.
• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LIC-Licensed Nurse Practitioner - Tennessee), Physician’s Assistant Certified (LIC-Physician's Assistant Certified - Tennessee), or Registered Nurse (LIC-Registered Nurse - Tennessee) certification.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 10-hour shifts. No holidays or weekends.
