About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic conditions, with a strong emphasis on diagnostic evaluation, disease management, care coordination, and patient education.
  • Requires advanced clinical judgment, prescriptive authority, and leadership within a multidisciplinary care environment, including close collaboration with oncology, radiology, pharmacy, nursing, and ancillary services.
  • Actively contributes to quality improvement, population health outcomes, and aligns care delivery with VA missions and ICARE core values.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)
  • Basic Requirements:
    • Education: A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • License: All APN (NPs) must possess and maintain an active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
    • Basic Board Certification: All APN (NPs) must maintain full and current basic board certification in one of the following: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), or Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (GNP).
  • Preferred Experience:
    • At least 5-years of RN Nursing Experience
    • At least 2 years of previous experience as clinical APN
    • Holds current DEA license with Schedule II-V prescribing authority from state with full practice authority
    • Experience in cancer care coordination, survivorship, or patient navigation across the continuum of cancer care
    • Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment, including tumor boards, treatment planning, and coordination with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and ancillary services
