About the role

The Advanced Practice Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is designed to provide an immersive learning experience in various inpatient and outpatient care settings. The program aims to develop and refine essential clinical and critical thinking skills, ensuring top of license practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of Health Status: Performs and documents a complete history and physical examination, orders and collects necessary data, and assesses for potential risks.
  • Diagnosis: Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to diagnose acute and complex chronic conditions, formulate differential diagnoses, and identify appropriate interventions.
  • Plan of Care: Formulates and documents a dynamic plan of care addressing acute and complex health care needs, utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines and protocols.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, facilitates communication with patients, families, and staff, and promotes continuity of care.
  • Documentation: Documents patient progress via daily progress notes, transfer summaries, and clinic notes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Professional Practice: Provides mentoring, education, and instruction to students and nursing staff, seeks opportunities for research and evidence-based practice, and participates in required professional development activities.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must hold a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification and have a basic foundation in evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Experience in acute care settings preferred.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is TBD, reflecting the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The Advanced Practice Fellow will work a full-time schedule, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend shifts as needed.
