Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) - Specialist Oncology Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently utilize a broad range of advanced knowledge, skills and theory in the clinical assessment, diagnosis and initial management of the medical and nursing needs of patients with oncological or haematological malignancies.
  • Early detection and intervention of clinical deterioration in existing or new medical conditions.
  • Demonstrate high levels of communication to liaise effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team while exercising a high degree of professional autonomy and making critical clinical judgements to meet the expectations and demands of the role, while working within agreed clinical protocols.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Advanced clinical assessment and management skills relevant to oncology and haematology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of oncological emergencies and complications associated with cancer and cancer treatment.
  • Ability to assess, diagnose and initiate appropriate management of patients with complex medical and nursing needs.
  • Knowledge and experience in the early recognition and management of clinical deterioration.
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise professional judgement within agreed clinical protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of advanced nursing practice and the ability to apply advanced knowledge, skills and theory to clinical practice.
  • An interest in acute oncology and haematology care and a commitment to developing specialist knowledge and experience in this area.
