Advanced Network Design Engineer

About the role

General Dynamics Mission Systems applies advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, AR/VR, Cloud Native and Quantum Physics to solve customers' missions in cyber, RF, undersea, interstellar and everything in between.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan network systems, as well as provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
• Deliver specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
• Coordinate third party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoot problems with department users and department network administrators
• Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges and gateways, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
• Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields
• Develop and provide innovative and creative solutions to a variety of difficult problems of considerable scope and complexity, using established precedent and policies
• Display initiative on assignments, exercise independent judgment and professionally execute projects with little direction

Pay

USD $105,814.00/Yr. - USD $117,387.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
