Advanced Materials Lead
About the role
The Advanced Materials Lead plays a crucial role in optimizing internal logistics systems, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient material movement and zero waste. This position requires advanced technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to lead complex projects.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a long-term material flow vision aligned with business objectives and lean manufacturing principles.
Directly supervise and mentor the Material Flow Specialist and Material Flow Engineer, providing technical guidance on complex layouts and system designs.
Lead the integration of emerging Industry 4.0 technologies, such as robotics, automated storage/retrieval systems (AS/RS), and digital twin modeling.
Manage capital budgets and timelines for large-scale material handling facility launches and retooling programs.
Cook up with suppliers and vendors to procure necessary equipment and technology.
Act as the primary liaison between Production, Product Development, and Procurement to synchronize material replenishment strategies for all OEM and custom product lines.
Analyze current processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes.
Utilize data analytics tools to assess material flow performance metrics.
Generate reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Ensure all material handling processes comply with safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to protect employees and equipment.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics.
Experience: 6+ years of experience in material flow, industrial engineering, or manufacturing engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
Qualifications
Advanced technical expertise, including strong proficiency in Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodologies, warehouse automation technologies such as AGVs and AMRs, and discrete-event simulation.
Experience with modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or comparable platforms is required.
Excellent organizational skills along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
A solid understanding of lean principles and process optimization.
Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects that require alignment across multiple stakeholders.
Proven track record of leading and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience operating effectively within environments that manage a diverse range of production volumes.
