Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern, Process & Equipment (Summer 2027)

About the role
GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking highly skilled and motivated Process & Equipment Engineering interns to join our state-of-the-art 300mm factory. As an intern, you will work with an assigned engineer on projects aimed at improving process efficiency, reducing variability, and enhancing performance measurement techniques.
Responsibilities
- Reduce variability in process recovery procedures
- Increase the ability to detect problems earlier and enhance LOD (Limit of Detection)
- Reduce cost of chemicals and/or qualification wafers
- Standardize processes across like equipment
- Enhance process performance measurement techniques
- Lead improvement projects and present results
- Collaborate with equipment and maintenance teams, including engineers, technicians, managers, and production employees in a dynamic environment
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements and programs
Requirements
- At least a sophomore at the time of application, actively pursuing a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field through an accredited degree program during the internship
- Minimum overall 3.0 GPA and in good academic standing
- Fluency in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship

- Prior related internship or co-op experience
- Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making
- Demonstrated leadership experience in workplace, school projects, or competitions
- Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to understand complex automated systems and human interactions
- Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and controls
Pay
Expected salary range: $20.00 – $40.00 per hour. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
