Advanced Manufacturing Engineer II
Responsibilities
- Review and disposition of non-conforming materials from internal and external sources such as shop floor rejections, customer returns and vendor/supplier discrepancies.
- Leverage disposition data to identify trends and isolate actionable solutions to reduce defects, improve FPY or eliminate scrap.
- Support root cause-corrective action investigation activities as necessary.
- Evaluate moderately complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Solicit observations from operators/production technicians to discover and document hidden factory and prepare written or graphical work instructions for the communication of manufacturing requirements to production personnel.
- Support NPI and determine the methods and sequences of manufacturing operations for moderately complex products, machine parts and assemblies; ensure that products and processes meet customer quality requirements.
- Understand capacity and capabilities for area or cell of ownership and be able to speak to opportunities to reduce bottlenecks, increasing throughputs with engineering solutions.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Presents findings and underlying rationale to team, supplier, or customer.
- Contributes to team efforts and objectives by accomplishing metric moving activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- 3-5 years of industrial/Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- General knowledge of aerospace or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing plants.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and policies and recommend changes to procedures.
- Familiarity with aerospace power generation, AC/DC electric motors, etc.
- Familiarity with industry standards for conducting time studies and verification of builds (VOB).
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of workstation design, tool shadow boarding/tool management MOS, kitting/staging shadow board MOS and cell organization/flow & 5S.
- Proficient in build/assembly tooling design and implementation.
