Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
About the Role
The Transportation Solutions Business Unit (TSBU) is a leader in delivering advanced innovations for the automotive industry, specializing in enhancing powertrain, body electronics, safety, and infotainment applications. We focus on enabling Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric Transportation (CASE) technologies. The Manufacturing Integration Engineering (MIE) Team is responsible for delivering competitive manufacturing strategies and processes to production operations. As a Manufacturing Integration Engineer, you will lead and own the overall manufacturing strategy, provide coordination, and oversee manufacturing technical disciplines. You will be empowered to drive resources to overcome barriers and achieve financial and technical program assumptions.
Responsibilities
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and provide manufacturing feasibility recommendations during product development while balancing operational manufacturing and product design functions.
- Develop manufacturing strategies (time to market and time to volume) for assembly, molding, stamping, plating, packaging, and other processes by working with core functions and operations to generate alternatives and determine the best strategy based on project objectives.
- Develop process flows and PFMEAs in conjunction with stakeholders.
- Lead process development activities, including equipment specification and statement of work, tooling design reviews, process validation, qualification, and run at rate.
- Coordinate manufacturing trials, debugging activities, and capability studies.
- Support procurement, installation, and commissioning of tooling, manufacturing equipment, and automation systems.
- Drive launch readiness activities and ensure successful product launches into production.
- Collaborate with global manufacturing sites and global manufacturing services teams to ensure standardized best practices and successful product launches.
- Manage project timing, risks, budgets, and technical deliverables related to manufacturing development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of strong technical project leadership within a manufacturing/shopfloor environment and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrates courage in dealing with unknown and challenging situations (problems, change, new opportunities).
- Willingness to travel globally 15-20%.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field.
- Experience in leading critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Ability to use decision-making and economic thinking to propose and execute experiments to find new and better ways to do things, focusing on results and outcomes.
- 5+ years of direct operations or process development experience within a manufacturing facility.
- Able to effectively compile, analyze, and communicate data results to drive decision-making within the core team.
- Experience in automotive connector manufacturing and/or process development.
