Advanced Endoscopy Technician, PRN

Job Summary

As an Advanced Endoscopy Technician, you will assist the physician with a variety of endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, cholangioscopy, and EUS.

Responsibilities

• Aid physicians with all endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and EUS.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of all endoscopes and complete documentation logs and records.
• Assist the RN with patient care, including admission of patients, setting up rooms, transporting patients, patient recovery, and final cleaning of rooms.
• Aid nurses and physicians in all aspects of GI procedures, including stocking rooms with equipment and supplies, maintaining proper procedures for cleaning and storing endoscopes, changing chemical sterilants, and cleaning scope washers.
• Assess endoscopes daily, report any damage to the director, and prepare and send out scopes for repair.
• Transport specimens.
• Make pre-op calls to patients to obtain preliminary information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT) preferred.

Please note: A score of 5 is necessary for advancement to Advanced Endoscopy Tech position.

• Procedures: ERCP, Cholangioscopy, Electrohydrolithotripsy, Stent Placement, EUS, Fine Needle Aspiration and Biopsy, Complex Dilations, Savary Dilations, Pneumatic Balloon Dilations, Resectional Therapies, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Band-EMR, Third Space Endoscopy (Intramural Endoscopic Surgery), PerOral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), PerOral Pyloromyotomy (POP, G-POEM), Zenker’s Diverticulotomy, Barrett’s Therapies, Radiofrequency Ablation, Cryospray Ablation, Esophago Gastro Intestinal Stent placement.
