Responsibilities
- Affirms nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
- Efficiently restores and stabilizes cardiac, pulselessness, non-breathing patients.
- Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and records patient's vital signs.
- Maintains good driving status and insurable driving status.
- Communicates with hospital/TCC personnel via HEMSI approved methods.
- Maintains up-to-date credentials and follows protocol changes.
- Documents patient care in all HEMSI approved reporting methods.
- Maintains safety and security procedures for vehicle and station.
- Maintains unit in constant readiness through supplies and equipment restocking.
- Cleans and performs minor maintenance on emergency vehicle.
- Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle and station.
- Assists in directing and coordinating additional personnel on scene, including volunteers.
- Faithfully reports to work and maintains acceptable attendance.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients and family members.
Requirements
- State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT
- CPR Certification
- EVOC (once employed/promoted)
- Valid and current driver’s license
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Required undergraduate EMT certificate
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT, CPR Certification, EVOC
