About the role
Location: St. Louis Children's Hospital One Children's Place, St. Louis, MO 63110
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates expertise in caring for the most critical patients by monitoring the ECLS circuit and patient status and responding to the needs of the patient on ECLS.
- Maintains the ECLS circuit and patient status to anticipate and prevent potential problems.
- Identifies and corrects problems associated with ECLS procedures.
- Responds to routine or emergency ECLS needs.
- Serves as a resource to and supports bedside specialists providing care for ECLS patients.
- Collaborates with members of the healthcare team to develop a plan of care.
- Aids in planning, conducting, and evaluating educational activities regarding extracorporeal life support for professionals, patients, and families.
- Contributes to quality initiatives and the development and maintenance of policies and procedures of ECLS.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of ECMO experience.
- At least 4 years of ICU nursing experience.
Qualifications
- Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's.
- Experience: 2-5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
- Experience: 5-10 years.
- Supervisor Experience: No Experience Required.
Skills
- Trained in AKRTP.
- Prior leadership and/or preceptor/mentor experience.
