Advanced Ag Setup/Assembly Technician

About the role

The Advanced Ag Setup/Assembly Technician at the IMPACT Center is responsible for assembling, setting up, and preparing new John Deere agricultural equipment for customer delivery. This role focuses on tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, and implements, performing pre-delivery inspections, configuring precision ag technology, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with service and sales teams.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, set up, and prepare new John Deere agricultural equipment for customer delivery
• Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and test equipment for proper operation
• Configure and calibrate precision ag technology as needed
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues during setup
• Collaborate with service and sales teams to ensure seamless delivery and customer satisfaction
• Maintain accurate setup documentation, including software updates and adjustments
• Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
• Stay current with John Deere training and advancements in ag technology
• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with teammates and customers
• Represent True North Equipment with professionalism in all interactions

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in agricultural equipment assembly, setup, or service
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Experience with John Deere equipment and precision ag technology preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment software
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and within a team
• Effective communication skills with both customers and team members
• Basic computer skills for data entry and software updates
• Physical ability to lift heavy parts, climb ladders, and work in various conditions
• Reliable attendance and a strong team-oriented mindset

Qualifications

• John Deere certifications or manufacturer-specific training
• Welding and fabrication experience

Pay

Competitive hourly compensation based on setup experience

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Flex up to 5 hours of overtime per week based on workload.
