We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for PRN coverage within our regional OB/GYN advanced practice provider team. This role functions in a "go where needed" capacity, providing care to women in our outpatient departments across the South region: Strongsville FHC, Brunswick FHC, Medina MOB, and Wooster FHC.

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will deliver primary and specialty care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, patient education, and participation in quality monitoring and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations.
  • Initiate and interpret lab, radiology, and other diagnostic tests to establish patient health status and develop treatment plans.
  • Perform and interpret routine and specialized diagnostic procedures as credentialed.
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures, including gynecological problem visits and low-risk obstetrical care, as credentialed.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by licensure and organizational policies.
  • Educate patients on diseases, treatments, drug side effects, and hazards.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
  • Refer patients to specialists for consultation or specialized treatment as needed.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patients and the multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Participate in quality monitoring through periodic review of records and treatment plans.
  • Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.
  • Support professional development of the healthcare team and promote evidence-based practices.
  • May conduct research studies, assist in data collection and analysis, serve as a clinical preceptor, or onboard new caregivers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in Women’s Health; new graduates will not be considered.
  • Nationally certified as an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Clinical Nurse Specialist).
  • Current licensure in applicable state(s) and national certification by a recognized organization.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS) may be required based on work setting.
  • Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s) and have arrangements with at least one physician per state requirements.
  • For Physician Assistants: Must have a Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum.
  • For Clinical Nurse Specialists: Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s) and have arrangements with at least one physician per state requirements.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.

Education

  • For Nurse Practitioners: Graduate of an accredited APRN program. MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN role. If in neonatal care, a Master’s Degree is required upon hire.
  • For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher from a program recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

  • Corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $70.00 (for PRN positions). Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, relevant experience, skills, scheduling requirements, education, and area of licensure. The range does not include additional pay practices or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s comprehensive benefits package.

Schedule

Variable days based on departmental needs.
