Adult Psychiatrist |PRN weekend call coverage | Petersburg VA
We are seeking a PRN Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join a behavioral health hospital in Petersburg, Virginia. This independent contractor role offers a flexible employment structure and a fully staffed support team, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality inpatient psychiatric care while leading a collaborative treatment team.
About the Role
This PRN (independent contractor) position provides weekend call coverage, including weekend rounding and/or overnight call. You will manage an adult and adolescent inpatient caseload in a team-supported environment at an inpatient behavioral health hospital.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult and adolescent patients with mental health and substance use disorders.
- Conduct admission evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Lead multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Manage patient care, including medication management and progress evaluations.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and clinical support staff.
- Document patient care, treatment plans, and clinical updates.
Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active or eligible Virginia medical license.
- Minimum of 4 years of training/practice experience.
- Inpatient psychiatry experience preferred.
- Meets credentialing requirements for medical staff.
