About the role
Perform technical procedures in adult outpatient phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and evaluation to support diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
- Collect and manage patient specimens.
- Prepare tests including cytogenetics and Point-of-Care Testing.
- Ensure proper specimen labeling and documentation.
- Maintain specimen integrity.
- Communicate professionally with patients and medical staff.
- Verify specimen labels.
- Utilize hospital information systems.
- Maintain laboratory safety, quality control, and inventory management.
- Assist with office tasks and specimen storage as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of phlebotomy training or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience or certification as a Phlebotomist.
- Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, specimen processing, and basic medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills and computer proficiency.
- Certification from recognized agencies preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification is a plus.
