Adult IV Infusion Medical Assistant 1
About the Role
Medical Assistants provide non-licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting. Incumbents room patients; set up equipment and instruments; independently perform, and/or assist providers with performing, exams and procedures, including administering injections; with proper provider authorization, provide instructions, training, and advice to patients; call in prescriptions; clean and calibrate equipment; clean and stock exam rooms; and provide proper documentation in patient charts. Incumbents may also provide front office services on a routine or back-up basis.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care (70%): Assist with patient flow, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, point of care testing, specimen collection, ordering and inventory, stocking of supplies, infection control, assisting with minor procedures, EKGs, and courier of lab/blood specimens.
- Documentation and Record Keeping (10%): Provide proper documentation in patient charts.
- Coordinating Medical Care (5%): Assist providers with exams and procedures, including administering injections; provide instructions, training, and advice to patients; call in prescriptions.
- Computer System Operations (5%): Utilize electronic medical records systems and relevant technology pertaining to federal regulations on patient privacy.
- Department/Clinic Coordination (5%): Support unit leadership with additional tasks, anticipate unit needs, and maintain communications with multidisciplinary teams.
- Additional Job Functions (5%): Clean and calibrate equipment, stock exam rooms, and perform other duties as assigned.
Department Overview
The Adult Infusion room provides outpatient therapy for a wide variety of oncology and non-oncology patients. Care includes outpatient chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusion, hydration, non-oncology infusions, and other supportive measures.
Requirements
- Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assistant training program.
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR certification.
- Ability to pass the safe-to-practice pharmacology exam.
- Ability to utilize relevant medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively communicate and provide excellent customer service.

- Ability to demonstrate accountability and professionalism.

Pay
Salary Range: $29.78 - $37.02 per hour

This position is 100% on-site and may require working variable days (including weekends), hours, and locations to meet business needs.
