About the role
NCA is seeking an Adult Independence Consultant in the Chicago area to work collaboratively with families, financial advisors, community agencies, higher education institutions, and medical providers in the best interests of individuals with unique needs. The ideal candidate is a motivated professional who can creatively strategize for individual clients by developing comprehensive plans that maximize adult independence skills, support the transition to adulthood (including community integration, employment, and continued education), and strengthen skills for instrumental activities of daily living.
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in education, counseling, or social work
- Strong understanding of 18+ education programs through public and private school systems
- Familiarity with college and career readiness programs
- Experience working with students with executive functioning challenges
- Familiarity with special education processes, including referrals, evaluations, IEP development and implementation, and recommended placement determinations
- Flexibility to travel and attend client meetings

- Willingness to collaborate with others respectfully and efficiently to reach desirable outcomes for clients
- Ability to problem-solve and independently research potential solutions while addressing programming affected by medical needs
