About the Morgan Library & Museum
A museum and independent research library located in the heart of New York City, the Morgan Library & Museum began as the personal library of financier, collector, and cultural benefactor Pierpont Morgan. As early as 1890 Morgan had begun to assemble a collection of illuminated, literary, and historical manuscripts, early printed books, and old master drawings and prints.
About the role
The Adult Engagement Intern assists in the production of the Morgan’s public programs, including concerts and other live arts, film screenings, after-hours programs, lectures, tours, workshops, and other public programs for adult audiences. The candidate should demonstrate a keen interest in visual and performing arts, literature, and adult education.
The intern will assist in the production of programs related to the exhibitions Rembrandt’s Lions: Art and Exile in the Dutch Republic, Ragtime: Cakewalk in Pianoland, and William Blake: Paradise Lost, as well as a series of College Night events. The candidate will assist with gallery tours and house and stage management in our 264-seat theater and will liaise with the public. Additionally, the candidate will provide administrative support, including event-related paperwork, signage, printed concert programs, and data collection.
Schedule
The schedule will include weekday and evening hours (approximately one or two evenings per week) with occasional weekends.
Requirements
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student
- Strong interest in a career in the museum or research library fields
- Eligibility to work in the United States; international candidates must be eligible to participate in a paid internship program in the United States
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
