About the role
The Killingly Public Schools are seeking an adult education teacher for their Adult Education Program serving Connecticut residents aged 17 and older who are not currently enrolled in public school.
Responsibilities
- Teach Adult Basic Education (ABE) focusing on foundational skills such as reading, writing, math, and language.
- Prepare students for the General Educational Development (GED) tests, covering subjects like language arts, math, science, and social studies.
- Offer life skills and digital literacy training as part of the curriculum.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree.
- A Connecticut teaching certificate or an adult education authorization (106/107 certificate) from the State Department of Education.
- 106/107 Certification:
- 106 - Endorsement for those with a teaching certificate.
- 107 - Authorization for those with a college degree and a special education class.
Qualifications
Adult education teachers in Connecticut must hold a bachelor's degree and either a Connecticut teaching certificate or an adult education authorization (106/107 certificate) through the State Department of Education.
