Adult Education Specialist

Program Development

Develops and implements culturally relevant curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs for student audiences within areas of expertise.

Plans and implements specific strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support, accommodations, or modifications of curriculum when necessary.

Implements established program objectives; instructs students in face-to-face classes, as well as virtual classes.

Assists students in preparing for Adult Basic Education assessments, provides instruction and support, reviews and discusses results with students; determines if additional instruction is needed.

Communication and Collaboration

Works in partnership with other Tribal departments to offer culturally relevant workshops.

Engages in community outreach efforts to promote program offerings to staff, potential students, community partners, Tribal officials, and outside organizations.

Maintains communication with educational partners to monitor student progress, outcomes, and advise on culturally relevant courses/assignments.

Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees to convey and gather information required to perform functions and maintain professional knowledge.

Seeks student feedback through participation in individual and departmental evaluation processes.

Provides responsive quality customer service in-person and online, over the phone, and via email to prospective and continuing students, faculty, staff, and the general public, related to Testing, Continuing Education, trainings in Adult and Higher Education.

Actively listens and exercises independent judgment and critical thinking skills to determine the needs of students and others served.

Teamwork

Participates in annual preliminary budget proposal and preparation and in long-range comprehensive planning projects.

Coaches, mentors, and trains staff as necessary.
