Adult Education Instructor - St. Benedict Education Center

About the role

The Northwest Tri-County IU5 Adult Education Program is seeking part‑time Adult Education Instructors to provide individualized basic Language Arts, math, science, and social studies instruction for GED Exam preparation or for entry into career or post‑secondary education. The position is located at the St. Benedict Learning Center in Erie, PA.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized basic Language Arts, math, science, and social studies instruction.
• Support students preparing for the GED Exam or transitioning to career or post‑secondary education.
• Work at the St. Benedict Learning Center in Erie, PA.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required from an accredited post‑secondary institution or equivalent foreign credential.
• Instructors teaching high school level mathematics must have a secondary math teaching certification or a bachelor's degree or higher.

Qualifications

• Current valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate preferred.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Adult Education and College and Career Readiness Standards.
• Experience working with ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
• Retired teachers are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The position is approximately 11.75 hours per week. Instructional time is 9:00 – 11:30 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with additional hours for preparation, professional development, and student support. The actual work schedule will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 am – 11:45 am and Thursday from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
