Adult Education Instructor for the BCTC Fayette County Adult Education program

Grant-funded, temporary part-time position through June 30, 2026 (continuing based on grant funding).

About the role

Part-time Adult Education Instructor for the BCTC Fayette County Adult Education program. The instructor provides College and Career Ready Standards instruction in reading language arts (RLA) and mathematics for eligible adults in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in academic skills, GED preparation, and workplace instruction.
• Administer and interpret placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
• Apply research-based instructional practices incorporating computers and other technologies.
• Assess and monitor student learning and provide classroom management.
• Maintain lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
• Participate in professional development required by Kentucky Adult Education.
• Maintain student records.
• Assist in the development of course offerings.
• Participate in retention and follow-up activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field (English, Reading, or Mathematics degree preferred).
• Score of NRS level 6 in Reading and Mathematics on the TABE A 12/13 (assessment provided after employment).
• Successfully earn a passing GED Ready score in subject area(s) being taught (assessment provided after employment).

Pay

$21.48 per hour

Schedule

• 20 hours weekly, Monday through Friday.
• On-site at Bluegrass Community & Technical College, Lexington campus.
