Adult Education GED/ABE Teacher
The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the urban community of Lansing, MI. About the role
We are hiring an Adult Basic Education (ABE)/GED teacher in Adult Education. The teacher will create a holistic and supportive classroom experience for adult learners.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality instruction that supports and aligns to the State of Michigan and the district's educational vision and mission
- Teach Adult Basic Education or High School Completion courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting
- Facilitate an environment that fosters the learning of all students
- Utilize educational technology to support student’s instruction and learning
- Develop and deliver daily lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies to ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets
- Analyze real-time data pertaining to student learning
- Track student progress and communicate to students and administration
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, and community
- Follow policies and procedures outlined by the Supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
Requirements
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
- A major/minor degree in one or more of the areas covered on the GED® exam preferred
- Demonstrated interest/experience in working with adult students
- Technology proficiency
- Ability to foster an effective learning environment for multiple age and skill levels
- Ability to implement multiple teaching methods, styles, and materials
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff
