GED Instructor-Adult Education
About the role
The GED Instructor position at Faribault Public Schools Adult Education is a part-time evening position available until filled. The position works with adult students at the Faribault Education Center following the district calendar, with summer hours for 5 weeks in July-August. The hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8pm, with 1/2 hour of prep each day.
Responsibilities
- Align instruction to meet students' goals and needs
- Use data from NRS assessments (TABE and CASAS), other platform assessments to make focused plans and instruction for students
- Assign study materials to each individual based on their goals and plan
- Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles
- Build relationships with students and find ways to motivate each individual to reach their full potential
- Keep accurate records and student attendance
- Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development
- Manage classroom and open learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students
- Maintain levels of training criteria established by MN Department of Education
Requirements
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of online learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to assume initiative in problem solving
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent record keeping skills
- Ability to manage time and responsibilities
- Demonstrated history of racial equity work and focus on increasing racial awareness
- Bachelor Degree in Education and current Minnesota Teaching License (a district-sponsored Tier 1 License may be obtainable)
- Fluent in Spanish
- Experience teaching adult diploma subjects, GED, HiSET, and college preparation courses
- Teaching License
Qualifications
Preference is given to instructors who are bilingual in Spanish.

Pay
The pay rate for licensed teachers is $38.06 per hour.
