Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care in the inpatient and outpatient setting for adults with congenital heart disease regardless of severity of illness.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including pediatric cardiologists, congenital and adult cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, advanced heart failure and transplant specialists, hepatologists, social workers, nurses, and others.
- Participate in outreach clinics and in research and educational activities related to ACHD, such as publishing papers, presenting at conferences, teaching fellows and residents, and mentoring students.
- Assist in the development of an ACHD fellowship.
Qualifications
- Must be a board certified cardiologist and board certified/board eligible in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.
- Must be clinically oriented and possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for an academic appointment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multi-disciplinary program.
- Must participate in teaching and fellowship programs.
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
