About the role

The ADU Technician provides comprehensive technical and mechanical support for our Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) systems. This specialized equipment automates high-precision drilling, which is critical to the aircraft assembly process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the complete setup, calibration, and implementation of all Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) equipment, cutting tools, and drilling templates.
  • Conduct ongoing preventative maintenance and execute timely technical repairs on ADU systems to ensure maximum uptime for the A220/A320 Final Assembly Line (FAL).
  • Oversee the full qualification process for new ADU systems and support their successful entry into service.
  • Provide technical oversight and on-the-job instruction to FAL employees, ensuring safe and efficient use of ADU equipment.
  • Champion Airbus best practices, actively advise teams on process optimization, and meticulously record lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial maintenance, maintenance of ADU’s, maintenance of test equipment or equivalent mechanical or technical type vocation (for example; automotive transmission repair, engine overhauls, etc.).
  • Preferred 5+ years minimum experience in with hands-on experience in the maintenance of ADU's, drilling templates, cutting tools and test equipment.
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • A vocational/technical certificate will be considered in-lieu of experience for entry level positions.

Qualifications

  • Physical Requirements: Onsite or remote: 100% onsite
  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of ADU systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

This is a 1st and 2nd shift work schedule.
