Adobe Experience Manager Architect
About the role
Verndale is a digital experience agency dedicated to driving growth by helping businesses create meaningful human connections in an increasingly digital world. We celebrate diversity and inclusion, striving to create a climate of respect essential for both individual and company success.
Responsibilities
- Consult with client business and technical teams on current AEM implementation and areas for improvement.
- Lead hands-on AEM architecture and development across components, templates, policies, styles, and content models for enterprise websites.
- Diagnose and fix broken or poorly implemented AEM components, improving overall quality, maintainability, and authoring flexibility.
- Design and build new reusable components and page-building patterns that support scalable content authoring.
- Convert flat or hard-coded page experiences into reusable AEM components, templates, and libraries so authors can manage content directly in the platform.
- Partner with cross-functional teammates and client stakeholders to assess technical requirements, recommend implementation approaches, and guide execution.
- Produce technical documentation, implementation guidance, estimates, and proof-of-concept work as needed to unblock delivery teams and reduce risk.
- Mentor engineers and serve as the senior technical point of contact on AEM implementation decisions, code quality, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities where AI-assisted workflows can accelerate component generation or content transformation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of AEM architecture and/or development experience, with demonstrated depth in enterprise-scale implementations.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining AEM components, templates, policies, styling systems, and authoring patterns — including AEM 6.x and/or AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
- Proven ability to work as both architect and builder, balancing solution design with direct implementation in code.
- Experience troubleshooting legacy or inconsistent implementations and refactoring them into scalable, maintainable patterns.
- Strong front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and component-based, standards-based web development.
- Experience collaborating with designers, front-end and back-end engineers, QA, and client stakeholders in agency or consulting environments.
- Ability to estimate work, identify risks, document technical decisions, and communicate tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort operating across large, complex organizations where governance, scale, and stakeholder coordination matter.
- Adobe certifications or other relevant AEM credentials.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools or agentic workflows that can accelerate component generation, content transformation, or delivery support.
- Experience working in distributed delivery teams alongside US-based stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Passionate about creating impactful digital experiences.
