Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods.
• Develop daily lesson plans and advise and tutor students.
• Maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records.
• Remain current in the applicable program teaching field.
• Participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions.
• Serve as an educator, role model, mentor, and facilitator.
• Focus extensively on facilitating student learning associated with prescribed course and program learning outcomes.
• Actively and substantively participate in assessment of student learning activities to maximize the potential for students to meet prescribed outcomes.
• Work with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process.

Requirements

• 3 years of occupational experience in the subject field or a closely related field.
• Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which you are assigned, met by one of the following:
  • One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area.
  • One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
• Completion of at least one (1) year’s experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.
• Demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation, and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery, and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS office products as needed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education, or administration. The degree must be from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and include course work in nursing or in natural, behavioral, or social sciences relevant to nursing practice.
• Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in California.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card.
