Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods.
- Develops daily lesson plans.
- Advise and tutor students.
- Maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records.
- Remain current in applicable program teaching field.
- Participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions.
- Serve as an educator, role model, mentor, and facilitator.
- Focus extensively on facilitating student learning associated with prescribed course and program learning outcomes.
- Actively and substantively participate in assessment of student learning activities to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet prescribed outcomes.
Requirements
- 3 years of occupational experience in the subject field or in a closely related field.
- Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by:
- One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area.
- OR One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
- Completion of at least one (1) years’ experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.
- Demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.
- Working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process desirable.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in nursing, or in natural, behavioral, or social sciences relevant to nursing practice (BRN regulation).
- Completion of at least one (1) years’ experience teaching courses related to RN or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing (BRN regulation).
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in California required.
