About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented change champion to act as a Program Test Lead Engineer embedded into the ADMS program from the Testing Enablement team. This individual will ensure best practices and processes are adapted to the project team's specific needs, identify areas to build testability from the start, and combine opportunities for hands-on testing, test automation, and performance engineering to deliver projects with improved reliability, performance, and user acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality, reliability, and successful deployment of the ADMS application.
  • Maintain and promote enterprise-wide testing standards, tools, and methodologies, leading end-to-end testing activities for ADMS implementation.
  • Provide training and mentorship to testers in application teams and implement best practices from the Testing Enablement Team.
  • Act as a liaison between the Tower Lead and Program Manager, providing detailed daily updates on testing status, artifacts, and reports.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and product managers/owners to identify areas of improvement for virtualization, test automation, and performance engineering.
  • Identify test automation opportunities and enable the automation team to develop and maintain the automation test suite.
  • Maintain performance testing artifacts and evaluate performance metrics with the Performance Testing team.
  • Provide input to Non-Functional Requirements (NFR).
  • Work with the Testing Enablement Function Lead to create and utilize virtualized services for various testing phases, ensuring readiness prior to testing cycles.
  • Develop and evolve the Testing Strategy, including the Test Plan, Environment Strategy, Code Management Strategy, and testing utilization.
  • Define entry and exit criteria for test phases and acceptance criteria for vendors.
  • Manage resource allocation and utilization throughout the project, identifying ramp-up and ramp-down needs based on project requirements.
  • Identify workstream leads and manage work allocations according to project needs.
  • Oversee environment requirements for testing phases, collaborating with the Environment Manager and test leads to close gaps and prepare environments.
  • Work closely with the Defect Triage team to coordinate defect triage, requirement traceability, and prioritize defect fixes with Release Management.
  • Assess and report on project testing health metrics, providing regular updates to leadership on progress.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the project team’s application architecture and priorities, offering quick feedback for improvement while balancing team priorities with enterprise governance standards.
  • Stay current with new test technologies and recommend their implementation to improve current processes.
  • Demonstrate tangible results through improved defect identification, test automation coverage, and performance test metrics.
  • Collaborate with other vendors that are part of the testing team.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience as a QA Lead.
  • Minimum 10 years of utility experience leading testing activities for ADMS, OMS, DMS, or SCADA systems.
  • Experience managing large-scale system integration testing platforms.
  • Experience with Emerson ADMS technologies is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of testing frameworks and tools, with proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (TypeScript, Java, or Python preferred).
  • Strong project management skills to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies, as well as CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI experience is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of test automation and performance testing tools (e.g., Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, TestComplete, NeoLoad, JMeter).
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model (3 days a week in the office) and flexibility to transition to full-time office schedule based on project needs.
  • Willingness to work overtime if required to support team activities.
