Hours: 8-hour – 8:00am to 5:00pm (Some weekends will be required)
Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the admissions department, ensuring an efficient workflow and timely processing of all patient admissions
- Manage patient registration, insurance verification, and pre-admission procedures, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smooth intake processes
- Work closely with clinical staff to facilitate seamless patient transitions, admissions, and discharge coordination, promoting effective communication across teams
- Train, mentor, and evaluate admissions staff, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and excellent patient service
- Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures to improve department efficiency, compliance, and overall patient satisfaction
- Monitor and analyze key admission metrics and trends, preparing detailed reports for senior management to support data-driven strategic planning
- Proactively address and resolve patient concerns, billing issues, and other challenges to ensure a positive experience and maintain patient trust
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Accounting preferred
- Three to Five years experience as a supervisor/manager in the Admitting areas of an acute care facility preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of and ability to interpret third party payer principles and terms and COBRA laws
- Strong organizational skills required for effective communication with patients, physicians, public, staff and administrations
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer Services experience required
