Position Summary

The Admissions Specialist is often the first point of contact between our clients/participants and the agency, and thus services an important function, contributing to the client’s first impression of our agency. The Admissions Specialist is calm, detail-oriented, possesses excellent listening skills, and is able to communicate clear descriptions of the services offered by Autism Delaware.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming phone calls and emails from families requesting service.
  • Explains services and eligibility to callers, allowing callers to choose the service that works best for them.
  • Enrolls clients in Autism Delaware services.
  • Affords families with obtaining a referral if needed.
  • Schedules clients for their first appointment.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of agency services.
  • Makes sure call response time is monitored to ensure a minimum wait time for clients.
  • Collaborates with manager, director, and billing staff to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency in the admissions process.
  • Reports to the team at departmental staff meetings as needed.

  • Promotes trauma-informed care and staff self-care practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 21
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in database, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience with customer service, scheduling, and health records management a plus.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are important.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required.
