Admissions Specialist
The Admissions Specialist role supports one of the trusted behavioral health programs within the Advanced Recovery Systems family, which includes Promises Behavioral Health, The Right Step, and The Ranch. You will be part of a larger, growing organization focused on improving patient outcomes, supporting employees, and strengthening communities.
About the role
The Admissions Specialist consults with potential clients to assess and recommend appropriate treatment programs based on clinical presentation and needs. You will facilitate tracking and documenting the disposition of potential clients from initial call, verification of benefits, pre-admissions assessment, and handoff to the facility, up to and including admission.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultative support for admission inquiries, including pre-admissions assessment and answering intake questions from potential clients or referral sources.
- Initiate Verification of Benefits and discuss insurance coverage and potential out-of-pocket costs with clients or financially responsible parties.
- Assess acuity and needs of potential patients and make treatment recommendations based on clinical presentation and program fit.
- Facilitate effective telephone presentations to prospective clients, communicating the advantages of Promises Behavioral Health.
- Identify qualified prospective clients and develop loyal customer relationships.
- Generate and follow up on leads through research, inbound/outbound calling, and follow-up.
- Work external business development leads with leadership approval, following the "Referral Rollover Process."
- Provide treatment recommendations within the Promises network of treatment centers.
- Offer outbound referrals based on presenting issues to established referral sources or other behavioral healthcare providers.
- Assist with client retention by supporting current clients as requested.
- Meet individual admissions quotas per month based on quarterly goal setting with leadership.
- Track and document the disposition of potential clients from initial call to admission.
- Research and expand knowledge of addiction and treatment programs to provide relevant information to prospective clients.
- Maintain a professional, "clinical-style" approach when working with potential clients.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, high-stress, and high-volume environment.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures for the Admissions Center.
- Design and execute strategies to meet or exceed performance goals consistently.
- Share techniques and strategies for proactive outbound calls, lead generation, qualifying, and overcoming objections with peers.
- Support team admissions and achievement of department and company census goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Sales and/or marketing experience is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with at least two weeks' notice for schedule changes.
- Strong understanding of addiction, commonly abused substances, codependency, dual diagnosis, and psychiatric conditions.
- Ability to effectively communicate the benefits of residential treatment.
- Willingness to assess and discuss a client's ability to privately pay for treatment.
- Excellent follow-up skills and the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously.
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment.
- Dedication to customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of managed care and insurance as it relates to mental health benefits is a plus.
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM is a plus.
