Admissions Recruiter (Student Counselor Associate)
About the role
The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing is currently seeking an Admissions Recruiter (Student Counselor Associate). This position reports to the Office of Admissions within the Office of Student and Academic Services. Under the direct supervisor, the incumbent in this position supports and executes strategic recruitment initiatives by managing in-state and out-of-state recruitment; conducting information sessions; representing Admissions at recruiting and outreach events and counseling prospective students.
Responsibilities

- Executes recruitment and outreach strategies to support enrollment goals across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
- Develops and maintains relationships with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and community partners to strengthen recruitment pipelines.
- Represents the School of Nursing at on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, including occasional evening and weekend programs.
- Manage prospective student engagement throughout the admissions funnel, including inquiry generation, applicant follow-up, and enrollment conversion.
- Communicate with prospective students via telephone, email, virtual platforms, social media, and in-person interactions to support the admissions and enrollment process.
- Utilizes CRM systems (e.g., Ellucian Recruit or similar platforms) to track prospective student engagement, manage communications, and monitor recruitment activity.
- Analyzes recruitment data and trends to inform outreach strategies and improve conversion rates across the admissions funnel.
Requirements
One (1) year of progressively responsible clerical work required. One (1) year of experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience in higher education recruitment strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Thorough knowledge of team office practices, procedures and equipment; of business English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate program value to prospective students and guide them through the admissions and enrollment process.
- Skill in planning and coordinating team clerical work; in interpreting and applying departmental policies and procedures; in operating manual and automated office equipment including personal computers and related software; in composing correspondence, compiling statistical data, and preparing reports; in performing mathematical computations; creation and maintenance of paper and computer files; in effective telephone usage; in organizing, coordinating, and executing multiple assignments under specific time constraints.
- Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team-based work environment; to understand and apply team quality and performance standards.
- Ability to train and guide team clerical personnel; to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure; to lead analysis of clerical problems and selection of corrective action; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to plan and coordinate team activities with multiple areas of the organization; to establish and maintain effective work relationships both within and outside the team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment preferred. Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) systems to manage prospective student engagement and communications preferred.

Pay
$46,000 - $55,500; commensurate with education and experience.
